Letter Tracking Glue
When constructing a changeable sign with clear letter tracks, the application of Letter Tracking Glue plays a critical role in maintaining the aesthetics and functionality of a lightbox. We use a slow bounding superglue designed for mobile phone screens. Search B7000. Throughout the gluing process, think of an Ant’s Head.
We have testing our self ahesive tracks on various surfaces and are fully effective on these. However, additional glue is strongly advised to increase longevity and protect the self adhesive strips from deterioration. This includes from heat, steam, condensation and other factors.
Importance of Using Letter Tracking Glue Sparingly:
- Avoiding Light Bleed:
- Excess glue can create unintended clear or translucent areas that allow light from the lightbox to pass through, disrupting the visual appeal of the sign. These areas can become highly noticeable and detract from the clean appearance of the illuminated message.
- Preserving Clarity of the Tracks:
- Clear letter tracks must remain transparent to properly showcase the letters. Excess glue smudges or streaks can obstruct the clarity, making the letters harder to read.
Process of Applying Letter Tracking Glue Correctly:
- Preparation:
- Remove the wax paper strips from the reverse of the tracks.
- Use a precision applicator, such as a small nozzle or a fine brush, to control the glue output.
- Applying Glue as Dots:
- Apply tiny glue dots, approximately the size of an ant’s head, along the exposed track’s adhesive strip. Apply a dot every 10cms. This size minimizes visibility and ensures just enough glue is used for secure attachment.
- Space the dots evenly, with a focus on structural stability rather than continuous coverage.
- Avoiding Long Glue Streaks:
- Do not apply the glue in long, continuous lines, as this increases the risk of light bleed and makes the adhesive more visible.
- Long streaks can also create uneven drying patterns, potentially leading to distortions in the track alignment.
- Final Placement:
- Gently press the letter track into place, ensuring that the dots are sufficient to hold the track securely without excess glue oozing out. Then use the reverse of a spoon to burnish down.
- Allow the glue to dry fully before installing letters to ensure stability. This is gnerally up to 24 hours.
